As promised, I am starting my 5goals1week movement ( well, kinda..but its progressive :)) I came across this amazing video about a girl who suffered much but was able to fight to do what she loved to do.. get an education. Motivation: 5 Goals 1 Week Movement!!




The principles of  the #5Goals1Week Movement are:

Setting 5 Goals;
  • A spiritual Goal
  • Financial Goal
  • Fitness Goal
  • Vision Goal ( Related to your Dream)
  • Professional Goal

The Objective is to set these Goals or  think about them each week in this order: Execute and Do your Best /Grow/Repeat!!
So each week I will be posting motivational quotes to encourage ‘US’ to keep going at our goals help ourselves in achieving them.

5 goals, 1 week is for those with ambition. For those with a dream. For those with random bursts of drive and energy but often lack the ruthless focus necessary to move from the conception of an idea (which occurs in the mind) to its execution (which unfolds in the physical world). It’s also for those that haven’t quite figured out what they want to do (that can be your first vision goal “Figure out what I want to do”) It’s for those who want to see quantifiable progress in their life, rather than being acquiesced by the nebulous “feeling”  that things are improving.
We can all conceive great things. Thinking big isn’t hard, “acting” big is where we encounter stumbling blocks.
But perhaps that’s the issue. The romantic notion that dreams are made reality via the “big break” or quantum leaps in progress that turn us into an overnight success. That everything we have ever hoped for hinges on one moment. The algorithm for that moment could be talent, an abundance of luck, a bit of work and a grand “action”
Though the reality is people rarely make it through a single grand action. Success is generally preceded by a sequence of personal and public failures, the odd moment of victory. It’s a path littered with setbacks and brick walls.
 
Gladwell posits that it takes 10,000 hours of practice and dedication to a specific task to become a success in any field. 10,000 may seem like an arbitrary number. Why not 8,000 or 7,777 hours? However it is indicative of something we often miss. Talent is so ubiquitous a commodity it’s a near redundant currency in the broad scheme of things. Long-lasting meaningful success has more to do with the unglamorous and often unnoticed virtues, such as dedication, determination and discipline. 
5 goals, 1 week keeps the big dream in mind, but acts small, with the awareness it’s the small steps that will create the “big leap”
 
If you’re fastidious, 5 goals, 1 week may not be the target setting method for you. The targets are precise and to be taken seriously, but the point isn’t to pour oneself into the goals with religious fervour, so eventually the goals become rituals. Although the habitualisation of learning to follow through is a good thing, the joy derived from attaining the goals is diminished the more robotic the process becomes.
 
The point is to turn getting things done into a lifestyle. Eventually you’ll intuitively follow the 5 goals, 1 week method even if you forget to list them on a Sunday evening for the week ahead. The reason it’s advised you write the goals is that it’ll help you remember them and there’s great power in writing things down!
In essence 5 goals, 1 week is a simple method of goal setting and architecting the life of your dreams. Why should you undertake it? Simply because your life has a purpose and the sooner you align all elements of your life to fulfil that purpose, the better for you and a world which eagerly awaits your unique contribution. 
As a “method”, bar the parameters set in its name, 5 goals, 1 week isn’t at all prescriptive. The tips you’ll find on here are tools to equip and guide you on the journey. The tools you add to your arsenal are of your own volition. Know what works for you, discard things that don’t.

On Beauty: how to achieve an even toned skin

Yes !! She’s Back! and with tons of ideas to posts so please bear with me.. I just recently came across some few tips on caring for uneven skin; Must I admit that it is an issue that I frequently have to deal with. As a result, it has been my mission to find economic ways and products ( If lucky) and share them with you guys:

As far as skin for women of colour is concerned, some of us more than often come across annoying things such as pimples that may affect our skin tremendously when we try to<< touch>> or even << pop>> them. (Kristin Braswell, 2011)
In this sense, it is important that we PREVENT  as well as PROTECT our skin and the initial steps to achieve the latter are:
  • Invest in a good Sunscreen (all year round not only during summer )
  • Opt for products containing: Vitamin C, Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid ( or more exfoliating properties)
  • Do not Pick Pimples as it facilitates the spread of bacteria and preventing the skin from healing quickly
  • Keep you skin Moisturised!! ( Day and Night) It helps the skin to regenerate quickly
  • Drink Drink Water!! ( I would say 2 litres a day or more) Also, adding some lemon is great for the body
Furthermore, there are a variety of products you can benefit from .However, here are some few ideas that are more economical than buying the standard drugstore products. (Info from Carol’s Daughter transitioningmovement.com)
  • Honey, Lemon, Nutmeg and Cinnamon Mask: If you are looking to achieve glowy, moisturized skin with antiseptic properties, look no further than your kitchen! Honey is an excellent natural moisturizer and healer, while lemon can help combat bacteria and gently address scarring. Nutmeg and cinnamon both contain anti-inflammatory properties. Whip these ingredients up in a bowl and apply to face. Let sit for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water and moisturize.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar: This is a staple in my beauty cabinet and kitchen. Apple cider vinegar can used as a salad dressing, a toner, and a cleanser for scalp build up. It helps to tone skin and balance the skin and scalp's PH levels.
  • Vitamin E: Invest in a bottle of Vitamin E vitamins and your skin will thank you! Apply the liquid from the pills directly on to scarring. They can also be taken internally.
NB: These are not standard guidelines!! There are many other recipes/ideas that exist  to treat a particular issue.Also, I may at some point later on discuss products ( preferably organic products)so do not worry!! I would not mind any input or suggestions from you guys about your daily  facial regimen which i would feature on the blog. Please make sure that you provide  the steps of your regimen as well as how well it worked for you!! I am looking forward to reading your comments!!
